William Paul Thompson,
age 79, of Wilmington, Ohio, passed awayTuesday morning, February 18, 2020 at the Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington.
He was born March 13, 1940 in Clarksville, Ohio son of the late Fred Monroe & Roxie (McClanahan) Thompson. On June 10, 1961 in Otway, Ohio, he married Edna Rose (Eichenlaub) Thompson, who survives.
A US Army Veteran, he had worked on the Railroad and Construction Industries before joining the Irwin Auger Bit Company that then became American Tool Company in Wilmington, where Bill served over 41 years.
In addition to his wife, other surviving family members are his 2 sons- Paul (Tamara) Thompson, of Wilmington & Chris (Angela) Thompson, of Reynoldsburg, OH; 2 daughters- Theresa Plas, of Vero Beach, FL & Debra (Steve) Crews, Sacramento, CA; 6 grandchildren- Jessica Plas, Scott Thompson, Katelyn Crews, Brian Thompson, Macy Thompson, & Madelyn Thompson; a great-grandson- Dawson Thompson; and several nieces, nephews, & cousins.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by 3 brothers- Fred, Frank, & Milton Thompson; 3 sisters- Vera Hibbs, Deloris Hibbs, & Sue Flores; and several half-brothers and half-sisters.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 AM, Monday, February 24, 2020 at the Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, 97 West Locust Street at North Mulberry Street, Wilmington with Celebrant Barbara Diebel officiating. Interment will follow in the Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wilmington, where the Wilmington American Legion Post #49 Honor Squad will accord full military honors.
Friends will be received on Sunday, February 23, 2020 from 2-4 PM at the Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home.
