Helen Smithson

Helen Smithson, age 88, of Clarksville, Ohio, passed away Wednesday evening March 22, 2023 at the Kettering Medical Center.

She was born January 15, 1935 in Harveysburg, OH, daughter of the late Clive DeBoard  and Marjorie Moran DeBoard.

Helen was a faithful servant of God, showing her faith through love and sacrifice for her family and acts of kindness and generosity to many others. She attended Bethany Baptist Church where she was involved in many church activities.

Surviving is her husband, Joseph Smithson whom she married August 11, 1960, 3 daughters, Lorna Jean (Mack) Kiser, Joetta Smithson and Cyndi (Jerry) Merriman.  Also surviving is her sister Anna Mae Williams, 9 grandchildren, Bryan (Marilin) Fisher, Shara Cox, Mallory (John) Dittly, Tiffany Ailshire, Brandon (Cheryl) Kennison, Liberty (Rick) Goodman, Julie (Tim) Kelley, Emily Holden and Jared (Liz) Merriman, 19 Great-Grandchildren, 5 Great-Great-Grandchildren, numerous nieces & nephews, special friends, Marian and Fred Elam, Mary and Sarah.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by two daughters, Sharon Kay Milner Fisher and Denise Milner Ailshire, three brothers, Clive DeBoard Jr., Dick DeBoard and Maurice DeBoard, two sisters, Janet Sword and Barbara Hillman, son-in-law, Kenny Ailshire, and her step-mother Lola DeBoard.

Services will be held at Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 11:00 am with Pastor Tim Bradshaw officiating.  Interment will follow in the Miami - Corwin Cemetery, Waynesville, Ohio.

Friends will be received at Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, Wilmington, Ohio Wednesday, March 29, 2023, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
