Obituary:

Susan L. (Bryson)Tarpley,
Age 85, of Wilmington, Ohio, passed away Thursday night, June 9, 2011 at her residence in Wilmington, OH.


She was born May 29, 1926 in Burlington,Ohio, daughter of the late Russell & Flossie (Winkhouse) Bryson. On March 11, 1956 in Wilmington, she married Carlton Tarpley, who died in 2004. She was a longtime faithful companion to her husband who served and moved frequently in the US Navy.


Susan retired as a realtor having worked for Fletcher's in Blanchester and Century 21 in Wilmington. Susan had also taught kindergarten in Charleston, SC and was a teacher's aide in the Wilmington City Schools for many years. In addition, she was a beautician in various shops in the Wilmington area.


She was a member of First Baptist Church, Wilmington, DAR, the Business and Professional Women Club of Wilmington and was on the board of the Clinton County Community Action Council. She enjoyed crafts and sewing and an avid geneologist.


Surviving are her 2 daughters- Gina Root, Wilmington and Lisa (Victor) Haines, Wilmington; 3 Grandchildren- Cuyler Root, Colin Root, & Susannah Haines; 2 sisters-in-law- Lorraine Bryson, Ocala, FL and Eunice Tarpley, Danville, VA; and several beloved nieces and nephews.


In addition to her parents and husband, Susan was preceded in death by her sister- Beverly Jean Sullivan and brother- Dennis Russell Bryson.


Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 15 at First Baptist Church, 79 East Locust Street, Wilmington with Rev. Noah Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in the Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wilmington.


Friends will be received at Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, 97 West Locust Street at North Mulberry Street,Wilmington, OH from 5-7 PM, Tuesday, June 14 and from 10 AM until time of services at the church on Wednesday, June 15.
