Ruth Thurman

Ruth Ellen Thurman, age 77 of Hillsboro, Ohio, transitioned from this life to be with the Lord on Friday, October 31, 2025 at Hillsboro Health and Rehab - Hillsboro.

Ruth was born on July 9, 1948 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Clarence and Eliza (Lyons) Thurman. She is preceded in death by both her mother and her father. She is survived by her daughter, Sara (Thurman) Snyder: spouse, David Snyder, of Indiana; a grandchild, Forrest Pewett (Missouri), and two great grandchildren, Raphael Pewett and Eliana Fisher.

She served as a Library Aid and an Intervention Aid for Hillsboro Public Schools for more than 20 years where she was dedicated to making a difference in the lives of the children she worked with.

While she was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, she served as Minister of Music and worked diligently with their feeding program. She later attended Cornerstone Baptist Church and continued her outreach ministry. She was always a friend and always had a smile or a kind word for anyone she encountered. She knew the Lord and enjoyed studying the Bible, playing the piano, and listening to music. She always showed kindness to anyone that she met.

Memorial services will be held at Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home, 138 E. Main Street, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133 on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Patricia Burns officiating. Friends will be received from 12:00-1:00 pm. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any local food bank servicing Highland County.
