Ruby C. Ostermeier,
Age 102, of Wilmington, Ohio, passed away, Thursday morning, June 12, 2025 at the Cape May Retirement Community in Wilmington.
She was born on a farm in Hebron, Illinois, daughter of the late George Paulsen & Anna Ingeborg (Kirkegaard) Noir .
Surviving are her daughter- Linda (Hans) Delius of Lake Tomahawk, WI; son- Paul (Lynn) Casperson of Columbus, IN; step-sons- Daniel Ostermeier, David (Debbie) Ostermeier, & Donald (Mary) Ostermeier; granddaughters- Anne (Logan) Mihay of Greenwood, IN, & Nicole (Cody Bowles) Casperson of Columbus, IN; and great-grandsons-Greyson &Connor Spicer; nephew- Jason McKee; step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her husband of 19 years- William Henry Ostermeier, Jr.; her first husband of 51 years- Gordon Carl Casperson; sister- Nancy Noir; & brother- Norman Noir.
In 1946, Ruby married Gordon Casperson. They lived in Hebron, Illinois, for several years before moving to Crystal Lake, IL, where Ruby worked as the First Congregational Church-United Church of Christ secretary for 25 years. Upon retirement in 1988, they moved to Oceanside, California, where she became involved in various projects including working at the homeless center and their re-sale shop, as a docent at Oceanside Heritage Park, and as a service volunteer at the senior center.
After Gordon's death, Ruby married William Ostermerier, Jr. They resided in Oceanside, CA until December 2002 when they moved to Wilmington, Ohio and eventually to Ohio Living Cape May Retirement Community.
Ruby's many talents and hobbies included dancing, cooking delicious home-style meals, baking breads, pies, and cakes, playing card games and sewing. She was so good at sewing that she could admire a dress in a magazine and then make her own pattern and reproduce it.
Ruby was full of genuine, heartfelt positivity. She was known for her generous caring nature, her huge hugs, her beautiful smile and her delightful sense of humor. She will be missed dearly but her love and guidance will live on in those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, June 16, 2025 at Faith Lutheran Church, 421 East Vine Street at Prairie Avenue, Wilmington, with Pastor Joel Richter officiating. Private interment will be held at the family's convenience in the Lynchburg Masonic Cemetery, Lynchburg, Ohio.
Friends will be received from 10 Am until 11 AM, Monday, June 16 at the church.
