Michael P. Kavula Jr., age 82, of Colerain township, formerly of Mowrystown, passed away on August 12, 2025 at his home.

He was born April 5, 1943 in Waterbury, CT, son of the late Michael Peter Kavula Sr. and Mary (Mazeika) Kavula. On September 4, 1970 he was united into marriage to Clara (Napier) Kavula.

Mike graduated Croft High School in 1961, in 1966 he graduated from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, and obtained a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1971. Mike spent three years in the United States Army as a pharmacist followed by a 30 year career as a college professor at Indiana University School of Medicine, University of Tennessee School of Pharmacy, and Mercer University School of Pharmacy in Atlanta, Georgia. Mike retired in 2003, shortly after he and his wife, Clara moved to their farm near Mowrystown, Ohio. Mike and Clara relocated to Colerain township in March of 2022, to be closer to their daughter Laurena and her family. He loved his Harley Davidson Motorcycles, dirt bikes, and his dogs.

Surviving are his loving wife, Clara Kavula; daughter, Laurena (Brian) Schlasinger of Colerain township; two granddaughters: Paige Schlasinger and Brooke Schlasinger; sister, Maryann Lariviere of Palm Beach Gardens, Fl.

In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his son, Michael Peter Kavula III.

Services will be held at Edgington Funeral Home, 17 E. Main St. Mowrystown, Friday, August 15, 2025 at 12:00 pm with Randy Butler officiating. Interment will follow in the Mowrystown Cemetery, Mowrystown, Ohio, where the Highland County Honor Guard will accord full military honors.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 until the time services.
