Marlena Burton Goodpaster

Marlena Burton Goodpaster, age 85, of Hillsboro, Ohio, passed away early Thursday morning, July 2, 2026 at Highland District Hospital.

She was born January 3, 1941 in Cincinnati, Ohio, daughter of the late Frank Albertson and Mary Ann (Carr) Arnold. She was united into to marriage to her first husband, Lawrence Burton on October 16, 1960 and he passed away on October 8, 2000. On December 1, 2001, she was united into marriage to Danny Goodpaster.

Marlena was a member of Mowrystown Church of Christ and one of the founding members of the Mowrystown Life Squad. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and watching birds. She was a loving, wife, mother, and grandmother.

Surviving are her husband, Danny Goodpaster; 4 children: Dean (Vicki) Burton of Mowrystown, Bryan Burton of Wilmington, B.J. (Greg) Stacey of Mt. Orab, and Karen (Kenny) Inlow of Sardinia; step-daughter, Dawn Ritchie of Greensburg, PA; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Marlena was preceded in death by her first husband, Lawrence Burton; infant son, Adam Burton; 3 siblings: Ray Arnold, Frankie Arnold, and Pat Kneuven.

Funeral Services will be held at Edgington Funeral Home, 17 E. Main St. Mowrystown, Monday, July 6, 2026 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Chris Gobin officiating. Interment will follow in the Mowrystown Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 AM until the time of the services.
