John Romolo Armendarez,
Age 81, of Frostproof, Florida, formerly of Wilmington, passed away early Saturday morning, July 22, 2023 at the Park Ridge Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN.
He was born July 27, 1941 in Trinidad, CO, son of the late Romolo & Neva (Martinez) Armendarez. Johnny married Carolyn Sue (Ferguson) Armendarez on April 6, 1963 in Clarksville, Ohio. Mrs. Armendarez passed on February 3, 1998. They were married for almost 35 years.
A US Army Vietnam War Veteran, John had retired from the General Motors-Moraine Plant after 31 years of service. He was a former member of the American Legion Post #49, Wilmington, & the St. Columbkille Catholic Church, Wilmington.
Surviving are his daughters- Judi Medley & Joyce (Robert) Eby, both of Sun City Center, FL,; grandchildren- Caleb (Ellie) Medley, Caitlin (Ryan Hamning) Medley, & Jacqueline (Nathaniel Bechtold) Deaton; great-grandchildren- Kaynen, Kyan, Blake and 1 on the way; brother- Jerry (Sandy) Armendarez of Cleveland, OH; sister- Stella (Berwyn) Perrine of Brook Park, OH; lots of nieces & nephews; and special friend- Kathy Hampton.
In addition to his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by his son- Steven Armendarez; sisters- Virginia Quintino, Josie Avalos, & Delores Armendarez; and brothers- Jimmy Armendarez, & Joe Armendarez.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, August 5 at Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, 97 West Locust Street at North Mulberry Street, Wilmington with Mr. Rick Cordy officiating and Mr. Caleb Medley providing the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wilmington, with Robert Eby, Caleb Medley, Ryan Hamning, Nathaniel Bechtold, Chip DeBoard, & Alan Wilkenson serving as pallbearers. The Wilmington American Legion Post #49 Honor Squad will accord full military honors.
Friends will be received from 4-7 PM, Friday, August 4, 2023 at Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home.
