Joanne I Weston

September 28, 1941 — September 13, 2025

Wilmington

Joanne I. (Wilson Jones) Weston,

Joanne "Mumsie" Weston felt it was time to take her cookie baking to the next level. Either that or it was time for her to share her expertise with a whole new crowd. Age 83, of Wilmington, Ohio, she left to join her parents- Paul & Lu (Jaeger) Weston, brother- Burke Weston, infant sister- Kathleen Weston and many friends in eternal life on Saturday morning, September 13, 2025, in Midland, Ohio.

She was born September 28, 1941 in Campbellsport, Wisconsin, and unlike one of her favorite stories, she really was delivered by the town doctor, not the local veterinarian. Amazingly, she did graduate from West Bend High School in 1959. She had attended The Ohio State University, and worked there for over thirty years. She was a true dyed in the wool Buckeye, with a hint of Wisconsin.

Married to Garwood Wilson and later to Eugene Jones, Joanne returned to her maiden name in 2000. She worked with her mother for many years to compile an extensive research document tracing the genealogy of the Weston name back over twelve generations. The resulting 250 page document is on file with a number of genealogical societies. Discovering that her ancestors traveled with William the Conqueror, and, as her mother put it, "probably chopped off a few heads along the way".

Joanne was known to many as first and foremost, a mother and later as a friend or foe. A gifted writer, (yes, she wrote that) who tried to reflect the life around her, though sometimes irreverent but always thought provoking. Her work was seen in Ohio and other markets. She will be remembered for her keen wit and her enjoyment of life. An avid quilter, an enthusiastic gardener (she was a Certified Master Gardner) and an active participant in medieval reenactment gatherings (SCA). She was most proud of her membership in the National Quilts of Valor organization, a group that provides quilts to those whose lives were affected by cancer. Her enthusiasm will be missed. While she tried to comply with most family and friends requests for quilts, she may not have been able to complete them in this realm, she assures you that she will continue to work on them in the next realm. She was a member of the Clinton County Quilting Association.

She leaves behind 7 children- Deborah (Ken) Cornwell, Daniel Wilson, Bridget (Rick) Walker, Laurie (Keith) Agee, Paula (Robert) Glidden, Jay (Michelle) Wilson, & John Weston; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; as well as many dear friends, and a few cabana boys. As to her infamous cookie recipes, that have been passed on to her children, grandchildren and some of her dear friends, so be sure to make friends with them.

Memorial Services will be held 4:00 P.M., Saturday, September 20, 2025 at the Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, 97 West Locust Street at North Mulberry Street, Wilmington with Mr. Timothy Larrick officiating. Interment at the family's convenience will be in the Hazelhurst "Garden of Sleep" Cemetery, Hazelhurst, Wisconsin.
