Joan L Foley

  Joan L. Foley, 
age 90, of Wilmington, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Easter Sunday afternoon, March 31, 2024 at the Salyer Home in Hillsboro, Ohio.  
 She was born April 26, 1933 in Clell, Virginia, daughter of the late Edgar Pierce & Myra Elizabeth (Boyd) Looney.  On December 21, 1963 in Chicago, IL,  she married Daniel Foley, who passed on March 16, 2021.
Joan was a member of National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution and the UDC- the United Daughters of the Confederacy.  She had been a Catholic and was a 1958 graduate of the John Hopkins University.  She taught several years at the Cook County School of Nursing in Chicago, IL.  Joan had worked at the Blanchester Care Center and retired as an administrator at the Autumn Years Nursing Center in Sabina. .
 
Surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends. 
 
In addition to her parents and husband, Joan was preceded in death by her brothers- Lex & Ralph Looney; sisters- Slyvia Wilson, Ruth Raypole, Hagar Looney, & Virginia Crscrosier; brothers-in-law, Patrick, Jeremiah, & John Foley; and sisters-in-law- Golda Looney & Nora O'Riordan.
 
Graveside funeral services will be held 11:30 AM, Friday, April 19, 2024  at the Addison Mutter Cemetery, close to Keen Mountain, Virginia with Fr. Renier Supranes from the local Virginia Catholic Community, officiating.
The Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, Wilmington, Ohio has been entrusted with the arrangements and the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home, of Virginia is assisting with the Virginia arrangements.
