Catherine Anne Mires

Catherine Anne Mires passed away at her home at the age of 66 on the evening of August 28, 2025.She entered this world on August 26, 1959, the third of the eight children born to Patricia Guzzi (nee Camp, deceased) and Gene Guzzi. A 1977 graduate of Wilmington High School, Cathy then graduated from the University of Cincinnati. She married her high school sweetheart, Charles Mires, on August 15th, 1981. Cathy was mother and homemaker for her three children Ross, Nina, and Nick, and a longtime parishioner and volunteer at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Lake Forest, IL. She had many hobbies and interests, including cooking, fine dining experiences, learning Italian, reading, watching shows and films, and knitting. Her cooking mostly focused on exploring her Italian heritage, and every year, in celebration of Christmas, she made Italian fruitcakes with her husband and children, with the recipe passed down from her own dear Nonna. Cathy also had an avid interest in creating beautiful spaces, especially in the home. She was a fierce defender and friend to her three children, and she was a devoted spouse. A somewhat private person, her closest friends until the end of her life were her siblings, their spouses, and her childhood best friend, Amy Carey.Cathy is survived by her husband Charlie, her three children, and her granddaughter Isabelle Mires. She is also survived by her father, Gene Guzzi, her siblings and their spouses, Mary and Bill Dieble, Perry Guzzi, Angela Guzzi, Lisa Jenkins, Paula and Dan Walker, Tricia and Dave Sollars, and Tony Guzzi, her sister-in-law, Charlene Mires, as well as her many beloved nieces and nephews, and godchildren Philip Dieble, Susan Elliott, Rachela Jenkins, and Lanie Guzzi.

A viewing will be held from 4 to 6 pm at Edgington Funeral Home in Wilmington, Ohio on Friday, September 5, 2025. A funeral mass will be held at 11:30 AM, on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Wilmington, Ohio, and she will be laid to rest in Sugar Grove Cemetery, also in Wilmington, OH.
